Hello all. You probably haven’t heard of G581G, as we haven’t made a post about it yet. So let us explain.
G581G is a sci-fi influenced platformer. The name comes from the earth-like planet, Gliese 581g. In the game you are Crewman #392 on the
Starstation Chiron, orbiting the soon-to-be Interstellar Federation’s
colony on G581G. You awake one morning to find the Station in ruins,
with almost no signs of life. And It is your duty as a Crewman of the
Interstellar Federation to find any survivors, scavenge for supplies,
learn the fate of the station and ultimately restore order so that
the colonization may continue.
- Kristofer Parsons (Jeviny) is the lead designer, programmer, and artist.
- Thomas Moe (Cicar) is the lead writer, and a designer.
- Daan Dobber is the lead sound artist.
So now that you have a good idea of what the game is, let’s explain what happened.
At one point of time, development on various projects stopped for an unknown reason. The development was going some-what smooth, and then we stopped. We have a thing of doing things 3 times to make sure the finished product is great, and we stopped on the second rewriting of the game.
So as of right now, we are porting the game to a new engine we’re making, called Fijin. The engine is oriented towards sidescroller games, and the goal of it is to make development as easy as it can be, while still keeping a modder-friendly system.
The game is back on development, and soon you should see many updates flowing in.
